Electronic Arts remains one of the most successful game developers to this day. It’s ability to create games that have good graphics, clean animation and solid game play has propelled it to become a powerhouse in the gaming industry.
Moto Racer released in 1997 is one example of a game that was advanced for its time. With titles like Moto Racer, there’s no question why EA became a success. Moto Racer is a motorcycle racing game that features several race tracks and different game modes.
With Moto Racer, you have a choice between street bikes and dirt bikes and you go to compete at tracks specifically designed for each bike type. With the dirt bike you compete in motocross stadiums with a good amount of dirt ramps and challenges. With the street bike, you go to different locations and make your way around the setting. One thing you must master in the game is choosing the right type of bike. Each bike has its own specifications when it comes to speed, acceleration, etc.
The game can also be played in multi-player mode, allowing you to compete against a friend, which definitely increases the excitement factor of the game.
Moto Racer allows you to play in a first-person point of view. It’s far from being a motorcycle simulator but it does give you a good feel of how it is to ride a speeding motorcycle. There are also enough obstacles in the different types of tracks to somehow provide you with the challenges that real motocross racers experience.
Only four tracks are made easily available to the player, the four remaining tracks will only be unlocked if you do well enough in the game. Well enough means to have a top three standing. In each race, you will be competing against 12 other motorcycles and you always have to place in the top three. Aside from going against other riders, you also have to be careful about hitting the sides of the tracks.
The only downside to this game is that it is very difficult. This isn’t exactly a flaw but the game really can be a little tough to beat and takes a lot of time and patience to master. I highly recommend this game to everyone. You won’t be disappointed!
