Alex Higgins World Snooker

Game Review

Alex Higgins World Snooker is an early piece of excellence. The game was created in 1988 by Lindensoft and was first released on Commodore 64. For its time the graphics is perfect and the game play is superb. This is truly a smooth top-down view snooker game what should be in your top favourite games. Alex Higgins is a top snooker player.
The game isn’t far from the reality. To be able to bring down the balls you need to do four steps. First you need to find and select a location where you want to put your cue. Secondly, try to find the right direction to shot, in other words aim. Thirdly get the power of shot and the last step is the spin direction. If you manage to put these four steps together you will get those balls down. After a few tryouts you will see that the planning of your shoots in the game is much similar as to those in real life.
The rules of the game are rather simple. There are up to 15 red balls on the table, this amount can be changed. You need to bring down a red ball first. After that bring down a ball which is not red, those balls can be green, blue, pink, brown or yellow. If you manage to pot both a red and a non red ball, you start over to bring down a red ball. If you miss, it’s your opponent’s turn.
You can play this against a friend of yours in a multiplayer set or against the computer in three different levels. It also offers a practice mode where you are able to practice your shots before breaking your friends.
A truly superb game. I enjoyed it a lot. Easy to learn, smooth and without errors. If you enjoy snooker and sports this game will not disappoint you! Highly recommended.
