Published by Software 2000 this is a game that allows one to take control of one of several real German League hockey teams. This is a managerial simulator that allows a person to handle most aspects related to that side of the game. Trades, player signings, training of the team, contract negotiations, and a whole host of other economic features. Renovating your arena and acquiring sponsors for your team are some of the other interesting things this game allows you to do.
Your goal in the game is to build a successful team that allows you to manage the German National team and compete in the World Championships at season's end. You can watch your team in one of several modes. Ticker text display that is a text only option or one with animation for goals that your team has scored.
Four players can play the game simultaneously in hot-seat mode. While this game is interesting at first and provides you with a realistic managerial experience it is a bit light on the action. Since you don't actually get to play the games you’re left as a spectator for much of the season. This can be a bit frustrating and a bit boring as most of your work is done in the off-season.
Also, if you’re not familiar with the German League and its players you can be a bit lost at the start and will have to do some research in order to build your team into a winning one. Don't expect great graphics either, but honestly you don't really need them for this game.
If your looking for a game that allows you to take control of all the behind the scenes workings of a hockey team then this game will provide you with an enjoyable experience. If your looking for a hockey game with that and the ability to actually play as the team you built then you will have to keep looking or at the very least be content to watch the cut scenes.
For myself I found the game very interesting and enjoyable the first few seasons I played but it quickly grew repetitive and stale. There was not much to look forward to after you built at least one successful team and participated in the World Hockey Championships.
A good game to kill an afternoon if you happen to be a big fan of German League hockey or its players.
