Game Review

If you can overcome the name and download this addictive point & click, then you're in for a treat! It ranks right up there with Sherlock Holmes mysteries I used to own! It is Paris, 1927. You play inspector Raoul Dusentier, who receives an invitation. It is just what you need, a nice vacation from it all aboard a ship that your host, the wealthy Niklos Karaboudjan, has fixed up. Wishful thinking! Soon after you board, the wealthy host is slain and you're left with a murder to solve. Easy enough, right?

The butler did it! Than explain how both of you were attacked in the opening sequence. Okay, what about Daphne, Niklos' daughter? Tom the accountant? And there is this Julio fellow. Just who is he really? And what was the motive? Could there really be gold on this former pirate vessel?

Questions require answers. But do you have what it takes to sleuth them out? Be patient, this is not a game you can run through with ease. Everything can be looked at; most things can be searched, which really, really gets your teeth sunk into the gumshoe buiz. You can even re-interview people. Because lets face it, even if they saw something, in real life people aren't forthcoming with divulging what they know.

I personally would advise getting a pen and paper, because as you progress the questions will become more and more, to the point where you will forget what you asked and to whom. This is a double-edged sword: While it can be great for people like me who really like to hone our detective skills, it can be frustration with a capital "F" for others.

As for graphics, I was amazed that this game made in 1991! The graphics look like it was made later. Sound is not good though. In some areas the music will be smooth, and beautiful. In other places choppy and unbearable. Some of the French to English dialog could use work, but it not a real issue. Overall a great whodunit that would've been perfect if the sound had been smoother.
