Cobra City has the usual killing spree plot. It is all about the underground workings of gang wars and the interactions of women that always surround them. The main characters are JR Knight and his lady-friend and past lover. Naturally, it is no surprise that she is a video-game hottie who has the ability to kick some major bad-guy tail. They single-handedly take it upon themselves to clean up the streets from the intricate workings of the gangs. Of course, they have some fun in the meantime.
The game that this reminded me of the most is the "Legend of Zelda." This is mainly because of the way the game is set-up. There is a substantial amount of walking around on the screen and destroying random bad guys. Each bad guy you kill allows you access to other portions of the game so, the more you kill, the better you do. One nice thing about the game is that there are different modes when it comes to combat vs. casual strolling. The two different points of view include sky (above the action looking on) or first-person perspective (you see what your player sees). Weapon selection is easy to administer. Using your mouse, you can select your weapon or to attack an enemy. By clicking on an enemy, you "attack" him and ebb away at his health. In addition, the place where you click an enemy makes a difference. Just like on a real person, there are certain points on the body that, when hit, are more sensitive than others. For example, hitting an enemy in the head, heart, or groin will injure them more than a leg wound.
The layout of the game is unoriginal. As a player, you will travel around to different portions of the city and you can boost your power by fighting. Need a pointer? If you encounter a scene in which a woman is surrounded and being attacked by a group of guys, kill each thug and you will receive the affection of the woman. One unique thing about the game is that the interactions with the characters are derogatory and realistic.
As typical with a vintage based game, the graphics leave room for improvement. Slightly pixilated and fuzzy, the images are far from technologically advanced. But if you enjoy vintage-feel games, the graphics should not distract you in the slightest from the entertainment of the game. If you are looking for a game that seems to combine fighting with scandalous scenarios, you have found the one for you. Have fun!
