Police Quest 1: In Pursuit of the Death Angel VGA is one of the few games to stick with me. The player takes the character of patrolman Sonny Bonds, a police officer in a Californian town. Your assignment is traffic duty, but in the morning briefing, the commanding officer mentions that teenagers are using drugs and the dealer must be located and apprehended before the situation becomes out of hand. Almost as an afterthought, there is also a mention of a stolen car to keep an eye out for.
Whilst on your regular patrol, you are diverted to attend the scene of a car crash, in which you find the body of a known drug dealer, shot and killed by unknown persons. You don’t have to do much, and your superior shows up to take control, sending you back on patrol, which has a few entertaining encounters, ending in a visit to the local bar to talk to a friend about his family's drug issues.
Returning to your patrol duties, you chase down a car identified as the stolen one, arresting the driver and finding that the driver has criminal links and is responsible for a major crime, which earns your character a promotion.
The game ending is quite entertaining and a little dark, but well worth it.
The control of the character is achieved through simple keyboard input. Movement is effected via the arrow keys and simple text commands are input into a text field.
Proper police procedure must also be used, if you intend to finish the game. It was reported to have been used in the training of police officers at one stage.
Overall, the storyline is very good, and graphics are wonderful. It is still an enjoyable experience, one which I will never forget. You need downloading it now!
