Ultimate soccer manager is an in-depth football management game that allows you to take control of your favourite club - or any club - and let you take them to glory. The game covers all leagues, cups and European fixtures and you get a proper sense of undertaking a hard and gruelling season in this game. In addition to a heavy season of punishing fixtures, along comes a large range of options for your club's performance, including a huge transfer market, all the usual tactic and strategy options, and an ability to micro manage every aspect or your squad, an aspect that will reflect on your team's injury list as well.
Coping with the day to day running and accumulation of a decent squad is one thing, but you will also have to keep a close eye on the club's finances and corporate management. Sell players for a profit as they peak - but with a risk of weakening the team and your league position - and buy young promising players cheap, before building them up into world class players - if you are lucky.
The interface and graphics are nice in this game with a polished feel and it all rests nice with the eyes. The game is easy to get straight into, but also is deep enough to keep one engaged and if you take on a lowly club your work will be cut out for you - in affect a good difficulty level for those who have mastered managing the 'big boys.' The array of options and sound logic of the game give it a very good realistic feel and purists will be happy with the attention to detail.
I would recommend this game to any one who loves management games or football to give this a go. It stands up pretty well to other games in its genre and there is enough gameplay and the satisfaction of watching your club develop to keep one entertained for quite some time.
All in all a very nice and polished game that will stand the test of time, push ones management skills to the max and give you enough satisfaction to come back for more time and time again. I can imagine putting this on my shelf after an exhaustive 3 week session and then digging it out for Christmas for an almighty x-mas day bash before having a few pint down the local and watching the real thing on the telly.
