I love Cross Country Canada! I used to play this game all the time in elementary school! Not only is it fun, but it is also educational. You are a truck driver, pitted against the harsh Canadian landscape and geography. The main objective of the game is to travel across the country, and drop off your packages at a specific Canadian country. The game begins at a random city. You are given a destination where you must pick up your first package (most often in Red Deer, Alberta). You type in certain commands to control your truck. For example, you start with you truck turned off. You must turn it on to begin your trip! It’s genius! You travel to your destination to pick up your first package, and then it will tell you where you need to drop it off, pick up your next package, and so on. Sometimes you might have to take a ferry to get across certain bodies of water, accompanied by some very uplifting music!
Considering the game-play, this game is fairly simple and recommended for all ages. The game will often tell you when something bad happens (example: your character falls asleep at the wheel which means you must command it to sleep, you're hungry, you need more fuel, your truck breaks down and needs to be towed, etc). Traveling to a specified city is also simple. You are shown a map and you choose type in a command in which direction you must take.
The only set back I have with this game is the graphics. It is an older game, being designed sometime in the years of 1990-1991. It is all 2D and very little color. The graphics do portray, however, the Canadian environment accurately and weather. There are sounds, which just add to this games awesomeness!
Overall, I would consider this game to be a classic! It is available for free download on many websites, or can be borrowed from almost every Canadian elementary school. I will never forget about this game, it is a major part of my childhood and growing up with the new "computer". I would definitely recommend this game to anyone, no matter what your age is. I promise you will have as much of a good time playing it just like I did! The game should not take nearly and hour. It's just that great of a game!
