If you put yourself in the shoes of a college student who lives in his own place and has to win the hearts of numerous girls, you can bet that there is a good deal of work involved, but don't worry; there is plenty of opportunity to have some good, hentai-style fun if you play your cards the right way. But be mindful, this is an uncensored hentai game.
True Love is like other hentai games in that it is based upon the basic point-and-click system. It is a text-based game with great artwork. Unlike other hentai games where the vast majority of the girls you interact with, throw themselves at you, True Love has several girls, all with different personalities, likes, and dislikes. The object of the game is to interact with these girls and find your true love by the end. If you are rude, uncaring, or just plain mean, your dream girl may reject you! Though it has its romantic qualities, this game is also reliant upon your abilities to maintain upkeep of yourself! You need to groom yourself, exercise, study, and also go out into town and make yourself known. After all, nobody notices a total hermit! Getting to know the girls very well will snag you the hentai scenes. The choices you make affect the outcome of the game.
You start off by actually getting to name your character and selecting a sort of ''class'' for him. Intellectual, Sportsman, Playboy, or Normal. Depending on which you select, you get a bonus to that profession's particular stat. Stats go up as you do choose to do various activities related to that stat, such as studying for scholarship and sports for strength. Some activities have an adverse effect, however, and while they may raise one stat, others may fall. This is particularly true when choosing to ''Work''...you gain lots of yen, but you suffer quite a bit to your appearance and fatigue factors. In short, the relevance of the stats is to decide which girls become closer to you, which you get to ''do things'' with, and which you can actually end up with at the end of the game.
This particular aspect contributes to the replay value. With ten different girls, there's quite a lot of text and juicy anime scenes to go around time after time. Playing through once is sort of an initiation. You can use this time to figure out which girl goes for what stat, and use this to your advantage the next play through.
True Love has a very lovable story. It has subtle little quirks that anime fans will recognize and has entertaining dialogue and oftentimes hilarious situations that won't fail to bring a smile to your face. True Love has plenty of moments that are truly romantic and beautiful and I'm not even talking about the ''lay'' scenes which are beautifully drawn and excellent. If you want a great dating sim, this is it. If you want to have a great time playing a game, True Love is for you.
One of the best things of the game is the music. The girls have different MIDI tunes based on their personality and quite a few of these are really good tracks. Better yet, you have the option of listening to them again and again from the ''music room'' that can be accessed at the starting screen.
