After drinking some toxic sludge in the intro scene, a hamster tracks down Bernard Bernoulli, with a disturbing message. So bad that he, Laverne and Hoagie, have to go Da-da-DAA! Back to the mansion!
An homage to a comedic look on driver's Ed. The pickup whizzes around neighbourhood corners so fast Laverne nearly loses her head. The car is going faster then ever into a classic spiral road up and down a step mountain. AH! BARN! A few chickens become feather dusters and you're off with a cow hitchhiking. Suddenly you crash into a tree, near the mansion. The cow leaves with a fed up wave. Now you get to search the mansion commando-style.
A lot has changed in the mansion but some of the characters are still around, the tentacles from the original along with Ed, Edna and Fred Edison. However, this time you only have 3 chums, unlike the prequel, the only drawback to the game. In the prequel, the Edison was out to get you and your schoolmates. This time, they've mellowed with age but that doesn't mean they aren't good for a few laughs.
Once you get past the beginning, a cut-scene begins. While travelling through time in a port-a-potty, Laverne says: "This must be that Woodstock place Mom and Dad are always talking about". Then, something terrible happens! Something goes wrong. Bernard freaks as his port-a-potty is flung into space-time. Laverne screams as she is flung into the future. Hoagie hangs ten towards the past!
That's right, 3 time zones; all with their little jokes. I had to laugh when Hogies washed the dirty buggy and it began to run. His comment: "see this why I never wash my car" and who didn't want to tell Betsy Ross to put skulls and a naked chick on the in-progress American flag. Or in the future, where you have to dress up Cousin Ted, the mummified Edison, in order to win a beauty pageant XD Last, there's the present. Where Bernand tries to save the world Purple Tentacle intents to create, by freezing a rodent, drying a sweater for 200 years or take a break and play the original Maniac Mansion, yes that's right! The original! Wont tell you how, don't do spoilers.
The puzzles may be ridiculous and at times hard, but solving them will bring a smile to your face, making them the time spent solving them a thing of the past. Only 3 characters you get to play in the Maniac Mansion, whereas the other one had 9 I think. Overall, the graphics, the music and the humour in this game make it a keeper. So for those of you who think I'm going to sell my copy of DOTT, I will if you give me enough $$$ to take over the word.
