Ravenloft: Strahd’s Possession is a role-playing adventure strategic game. The game utilizes the AD&D rules for the game play. At the beginning of the game you will start off with two people. You will then select from the pre-determined characters or begin creating your own. You will select from several different races such as human, elf, dwarf, and many more. There is also the selection from the classes such as fighter or cleric.
Throughout the game some characters may decide to join your group, allowing you to have a maximum of four characters in total. This allows you to have a variety of characters and different abilities which will assist you in the battles that you will take part in.
The game began by Lord Dhelt of Elturel being attacked inside of his own castle. Then the very mysterious assassin took the Hole Symbol of Helm. The Hole Symbol of Helm is an amulet that has many magical powers. You will then be asked to assist in getting this amulet back for Lord Dhelt. Once you have collected the amulet and killed the assassin something much unexpected occurs. You were suddenly taken to an unknown place and the way back has been blocked with poisonous mist. You will then have to begin exploring this land that is filled with many hostile beings that will attempt killing you and discover the mysteries behind the amulet.
The game has been designed with many appealing screens especially the character generation screens. These screens have a well-designed gypsy lady dealing tarot cards with each describing something about your character designs. The third dimensional interface along with the third dimensional panoramic views surely takes the game to the next level in graphical design. With the ability to put labels on your map and have the menu bar hidden when you are not using it, this game surely had a lot of technical thought put into the overall design.
