Ah! The Adventures of Robbo is such a classic game, released in 1994 by Epic MegaGames. Anyone that grew up in the 90’s, will definitely appreciate a game like The Adventures of Robbo. Although simple in graphics, like most games during the 90’s, it is highly addictive! Advancing through the tricky puzzles will provide enjoyment for hours on end.
You control a little robot to place bombs and push objects, finding bolts, and keys to unblock possible escape routes from the futuristic styled maze! It’s not as easy as it sounds though, because you’ll have to avoid the enemies and lasers that want to destroy poor little Robbo. Beware of standing next to a bomb next to an enemy that shoots. Otherwise, bye bye Robbo. Some of them shoot in the same direction, so you can work out how to avoid them, others shoot in random directions! There are also round objects, transporters, that transfer you from one location to another.
To make things even trickier, like most arcade style games, you will have a limited amount of lives! Thankfully Robbo can defend himself, by picking up battery packs that you can use to shoot your enemies or use blocks to trap them, leaving you to move without fear. But don’t forget, the power in battery packs are limited! So, use wisely and sparingly.
Unlike many arcade style games, there is no annoying and repetitive music while you amble through the levels. There is some sound though, like when you start each level and when you pick up an object.
I recommend pausing at the start of each level though, planning possible methods and moves, because once you die you will have to start that level all over again! Remember, sometimes the lasers shoot randomly, so you’ll have to re-plan possible moves and methods all over again!
There are about twenty or so levels, and naturally each level gets harder and harder as you progress through the game. There will be points in the game where you’ll think the level is impossible. Just think harder! It can be done, so don’t stop trying.
If you really enjoy games like Pac Man or just simply love puzzles, you will most definitely enjoy The Adventures of Robbo! You can't go wrong with this game.
