Act of Fighter is a game a fantastic game that wasn’t created Stateside. It is a game from Softstar a game developer from Taiwan. Softstar was actually considered a premiere game developer in Taiwan.
Act of Fighter is a side-scrolling game set in China. As the hero of the game, you must avenge the death of your father who was murdered ruthlessly. You will have to go against many villains before you finally meet up and fight against the big boss. The game has many levels that you need to complete to be able to finish the game. The game play is really the same for all levels as what is common in fighting games but the different levels poses different enemies and different challenges.
The graphics is dated but colourful and good. The sceneries come with some pretty good details and the sound effects of the game add to the game’s excitement. I would say this game is totally average, because it’s not that bad but it’s not close to perfect either. I downloaded this game, tried it but didn’t really spend many days playing it. It is a fun game and all but it’s not something I intend to keep in my PC. I guess it’s worth trying but not worth using up precious hard drive space on. It’s campy and fun and lets you experience a Chinese developed game but there are far more better games.
One of the reasons this game did not flourish like the other side-scrolling action games of the late 90s and the early 2000s is the fact that the attack buttons and the combination moves aren’t intuitive. The animation or the moves also aren’t as smooth as the other games. The game also can be difficult in some stages so a new or a young player might get easily frustrated with it. On the other hand experienced gamers might get turned off too because the controls are not as smooth as in other more popular fighting games.
Another minor flaw for the game is how the text is in Chinese! This is understandable since the game was made in Taiwan and the truth is the text will hardly have influence on how you will experience the game.
It’s a good game that isn’t perfect but if you’re willing to ignore the little flaws and want to experience a game that not everyone has played before, then you must download Act of Fighter and give it a shot.
