The unknown game..

I'm sure I'm not the first to come along here ask for help identifying a game from my fuzzy past - but since you all are the experts, here goes.
I vaguely remember playing a shareware game on my 486 dos computer in the mid 90's but i honestly can't remember the name. I just remember that the premise was that you had a boat and you navigated it around the water discovering islands and exploring them. There might have been an overall storyline, but i can't remember that too well. I remember when you rode around in a boat - it was a fictitious land not earth. it'd show you the horizon and you set your course and had to worry about supplies. You'd occasionally discover an island, you could land and talk to islanders, resupply etc etc. It was a pretty difficult game, you couldn't stay out to sea very long with limited supplies.
any ideas what the hell i'm talking about?

Hello there,
Hum...this was indeed hard. Pirates comes to mind but that one doesn't include talking to islanders and resupply....humm..man I can't figure this out. Anyone else? |
